Hi,
Thanks for intiating a discussion on the topic English for Engineers. I have published a book English and Communication Skills for Students of Science and Engineering (2009). My experience tells me that all of us need communication skills irrespective of whatever jobs we do. We have made too many attempted differences using the concept of ESP. I think it is high time we looked into it carefully to reach out to students and teach them the skills that they need rather than the theory which is given to teachers by experts.
