|Profile: I currently work part-time for the Institute of Education, University of London where I tutor on an online teacher training course. With the rest of my time I do a lot of materials writing, mainly for CUP, and also am involved in writing EFL exams.
My first degree was in Russian Studies (University of Aberdeen). I then did a doctorate at the Centre for Russian and East European Studies, University of Birmingham. My thesis was on the socialisation of schoolchildren through school reading materials. I taught modern languages and did some auxiliary nursing in Birmingham, then moved to a research job in Cambridge. When that came ot an end, I took a temporary teaching post in a language school in Cambridge, leaving 22 years later.
